Alkebulan, Mother of Mankind is my take on the emergence of AI and the effect it will have on mankind. A wood carving of a face, combined with circuit boards from an old iMac computer. The concept is we are becoming a product of our own designs. Mankind's renewal will come at a price. The name of the piece comes from the African word for Africa (it translates to Mother of Mankind), which is believed to be the birth place of man. The face also has personal significance to me, its based on my Mother.
